Diablo 4 Will Provide a Long Campaign - And It Will be First Out of Many Attractions

Diablo 4 director Joe Shely revealed details about the length of the game's main campaign in a recent interview, as well as the maximum level cap and the returning Paragon system.

After the presentation of Diablo IV took place at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022, game's designer Joe Shely took part in an interview for GameSpot, in which he revealed some secrets about the length of the game's story campaign.

A long campaign

According to him, a full playthrough of the main thread should take about 35 hours and the players will eventually reach level around 45. It is worth adding that with the end of the main campaign the progress will not be stopped. Persistent fans will still have a chance to advance their characters to level 100.

Endgame

During the aforementioned interview, Shely added that it will not be the end of attractions that the creators have prepared for the players, because along with "maxing out" the character's level, additional elements will be unlocked in Diablo IV. These will include nightmarish dungeons and the Whispering Tree - a new system of rewarding rare crafting materials and legendary items.

"You'll get access to whispers, nightmarish dungeons, and other endgame activities that we're still working on. We wanted you to have a wide range of options," the director mentioned in an interview with GameSpot.

Improved Paragon system

Noteworthy are alsomaster levels, a.k.a. the Paragon system, which, unlike in previous installments, cannot be conquered indefinitely. This is to prevent characters from reaching such a high level that they will be able to easily overcome all endgame challenges in Diablo IV.

The enhanced Paragon levels will give players more choices when it comes to further upgrading their characters. The Paragon Board will only enable us to unlock modifications that are related to the ones we've already purchased, meaning we'll have to choose our character's direction wisely and stick to it.

So it looks like Blizzard Entertainment is preparing for us a long and thoughtful game. How things turn out in reality, we will find out next year, when Diablo IV will debut on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and XSX/S.
