The subtitle of the new Dragon Age changed from „Dreadwolf” to „The Veilguard.” We're about to see extensive gameplay from the upcoming RPG from BioWare.
BioWare studio shared important new information about the upcoming game in the Dragon Age series. The fourth installment of this RPG series was previously known as "Dreadwolf," but the devs decided to change its subtitle to better reflect the essence of the game itself. Dragon Age 4 is now The Veilguard.
Fans of the universe are well aware of the important role Dreadwolf played in the Inquisition. We'll also see him in the new installment. Therefore, it may be surprising to change such a seemingly apt title. However, the developers reassure that the plot assumptions of the game haven't changed, and Solas still plays a significant role in the whole story.
The Veilguard most likely refers to the protagonist of the fourth installment of Dragon Age. There is leaked information online that confirms we will play as the Grey Warden in the game. The main task of this order is apparently not just fighting the darkspawns, but primarily observing the damage to the Veil separating the Fade from Thedas.
Similar to the Inquisitor in the third part, the main protagonist of the upcoming RPG from BioWare will frequently need to depend on their companions, totaling seven in number (one of whom is likely to be the charismatic Varric, known from Inquisition and the second installment). Therefore, this exceptional main character and his party will take center stage in the four part, with their connection being more crucial than the threat of Dreadwolf.
Each of the seven unique characters that make up your companions will have deep and compelling storylines where the decisions you make will impact your relationships with them – as well as their lives -- we read in the official statement.
Moreover, BioWare announced that on June 11 a 15-minute video from one of the first stages of the game will be presented. The stream can be watched on the official channel on YouTube dedicated to Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Fans of the series will be pleased to hear that there has been no official video since the release of the first game teaser in 2018, although leaked recordings from an early version of the game surfaced online last year. They indicated that The Veilguard would abandon the solution known from the previous installments of the series and wouldn't offer an active pause option.
