Today marks the release of Dredge, a dark RPG about fishing amidst mysterious and inhospitable waters full of eldritch horrors.
In just a few hours we will see the launch of Dredge - an unusual game combining RPG, fishing game and Lovecraftian atmosphere.
In Dredge we play the role of a fisherman who, steering a small boat, travels through the waters of the Marrows archipelago.. In pursuit of his prey, the hero will face the hardships of life at sea. However, it will quickly turn out that the murky waters hide many dark secrets. Occult organizations will come into play, as well as unnamed monstrosities reminiscent of the best (or rather worst) moments of H. P. Lovecraft's work.
To survive in this inhospitable environment, the player will engage in the process of catching fish and other sea creatures. By selling the catch we will improve our boat, fishing rods or nets.. When repelling the attacks of sea beasts we will also use artifacts fished from the depths, providing the protagonist with certain supernatural abilities.
The game will also not lack story elements, appropriate for the RPG genre. On his way the player will encounter a number of characters inhabiting the archipelago. Additional interactions with NPCs, combined with exploration, will help uncover the mystery of the Marrows Islands over time.
Dredge features uncomplicated, but extremely charming visuals. Simple textures and models kept in toned down shades of gray work well with the mysterious and dark atmosphere of the story. Sinking in fog, the archipelago even seems to emanate the coldness of unfriendly waters. Also noteworthy are the pecutiar images of the characters, reminiscent of painted portraits.
The game by Black Salt Games will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.
It is worth noting that Dredge is characterized by modest system requirements on PC, so it should run even on older rigs.
