Fans of Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and the rest of the gang will be able to play Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in just 3 days, but only if they own a PS5, as the game will be exclusively available on this platform for now. At the same time, many people are wondering how long they will have to wait for the continuation. The game's director, Naoki Hamaguchi, shared some information about this.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's continuation could be released in 4 years

French journalist Julien Chieze, specializing in video games, recently conducted a 40-minute interview with Naoki Hamaguchi and the developer of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Yoshinori Kitase. The editor asked about a variety of topics related to the Final Fantasy series, including the remake of FF6. At one point (around minute 41), Naoki Hamaguchi mentioned when he believed we would get a sequel to Rebirth.

When we got to the end of the development for Remake, we started talking about the sequel [Rebirth] with Nojima-san. And I think we can say that we are in the same situation today. There were four years between the release of the Remake and the Rebirth, so we hope that the third installment will appear just as quickly.

The statement suggests that we will have to wait until 2028 for the release of the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth sequel, although a lot can happen during that time. So it's not out of the question that the game might appear a bit earlier or - which would be particularly undesirable - later.

If you are interested in Rebirth, you probably know that the story will end in the Forgotten Capital, the location where a key turning point in the plot took place in the 1997 original. During the interview, Yoshinori Kitase said that he would like the fans to play themselves and reach this crucial point. As he admitted, in his opinion this is a very good place to end Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

The interview has English subtitles. You can watch it below.

I would like to add that if you are waiting for this title, it's worth avoiding watching any gameplays after the premiere, as they will be full of spoilers. They can spoil the joy of playing FF7 Rebirth on your own.
