Forza Motorsport Cover Hits Internet; Racing Game Fans Excited

The cover of the new Forza Motorsport, revealed prematurely in a newsletter for Game Pass subscribers, is making rounds on the web. The car visible on it caused a stir among racing game fans.

Covers for Forza games are famous for featuring exciting cars that have just had a world premiere. It looks like the upcoming Forza Motorsport will uphold the tradition.

The unveiling of the cover for this installment shouldn't happen until the "not-E3," i.e., Microsoft's show scheduled for June 11. However, it was leaked earlier, made public in a newsletter sent out to Game Pass subscribers (thanks, AR12_Nick!). It is accompanied by the already familiar promo art from Cities: Skylines II along with the information (also familiar) that both games will hit the service on launch day.

What's on the cover?

It shows two cars. In the foreground we see Cadillac V-Series.R, which is a prototype car built in accordance with LMDh regulations for racing in the GTP and Hypercar classes. Its debut in reality took place in January this year (during the 24-hour race at Daytona).

The low quality of the image makes it impossible to tell what exactly is in the background - almost certainly it is a Chevrolet Corvette C8, but it remains debatable which variant of this car we see: whether Z06 or perhaps E-Ray (I bet on the former). In any case, it is unlikely to be the Stingray, which has been featured in the series since Forza Horizon 4.

What's so interesting about it?

The revived GTP and Hypercar are still young, and are generating more than enough interest in the competition. A surprising number of car manufacturers have signed up to participate with brand new machines, including Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Toyota, Peugeot, Acura or just Cadillac (and Lamborghini, among others, is expected to join in the future).

The youth of these classes means that you can count the appearances of the cars representing them in video games on the fingers of a hand (e.g., the Toyota GR010 found its way into Gran Turismo 7, and the BMW M Hybrid V8 into iRacing). Popularity, in turn, makes gamers want to get their hands on these rides as soon as possible.

On top of that the factor of alleged exclusivity - at least partial - which was to be obtained for these machines and the WEC championship by Motorsport Games (known mainly for bagging quite a few licenses for well-known racing disciplines, created the disastrous NASCAR 21: Ignition, bought the makers of rFactor 2 and... still seems to balancing on the brink of collapse).

All the aforementioned aspects make the presence of this Cadillac in Forza Motorsport is such big news and a reason for racing enthusiasts to rejoice (although, as an aside, I would add that iRacing probably will get this car a little earlier). Now we can hold out hope that we will also see other machines of the GTP and Hypercar classes in the game.

When will Forza Motorsport come out?

For now, all we know is that its debut will take place this year. We will most likely learn the exact date during the aforementioned Microsoft show, which is scheduled for June 11 at 7 p.m. CET. The game is heading for PC and XSX/S.
