Update

Today, The Finals servers have seen 221,396 players at the same time. As a result, the new game of Battlefield veterans has risen to the 6th place on the list of the most popular games on Steam.

It is possible that today the record will be improved further, and this despite the criticism that falls on the game. Many players - currently 30% of whom rate the game negatively - complain about frequent crashes and changes in controls made since the beta.

Perhaps the game's reception will be positively influenced by future patches, including hotfix 1.2.2, released hours ago, which improves sprint animation. On the occasion of its release, the developers noted that the restoration of the beta experience should be helped by moving the FOV (field-of-view) to level 90 in the video settings.

Original news (December 8)

A few hours ago, completely unexpectedly launched the first season of the online FPS The Finals. The game, developed by veterans of the Battlefield series, has the makings of a really big hit. To prove to you that these are not empty words, let me quote some numbers.

Well, at the time of writing this message The Finals is played by 124,383 people at the same time, which is, by the way, the peak since the launch of the full version of the shooter. The numbers are already impressive, and will most likely be improved over the weekend.

Such high numbers, however, would be nothing if the game was getting negative reviews. In this field, the developers from Embark Studios also have a lot to be happy about, as The Finals is enjoying a good reception. Currently on Steam the title has 2314 reviews, 72% (1670) of which are positive., which for a debuting online game with such a large number of players is a rare situation (mainly due to the usually poor operation of servers).

Praise is nice, but players note several pain points that plague The Finals despite earlier testing. The comments include opinions about poorly balanced weapons, which have not been improved since the shooter's previous beta. Players also complain about characters moving too slowly and the lack of servers dedicated to Australian residents.

The Finals is available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The title is a F2P game.
