Although an unofficial modification, GTA 5 Redux by Josh Romito is undeniably the next step in the evolution of Grand Theft Auto V – and, more importantly, it’s already out. What strikes you first when looking at the mod are the improved graphics. This means completely reworked weather system and more realistic lighting simulation. Lots of textures have been replaced, including almost all roads, ground debris (e.g. trash) and dirt, whereas foliage and particle effects, including fire, got stunning 4K textures. Watch the launch trailer (created by Ocean Powell) to see how it all looks:
But GTA 5 Redux does much more than improve graphics. The mod also features tweaked handling for every vehicle in the game and adds more realistic weapon behavior. While rediscovering driving in GTA V, note that car damage system has also been changed to allow even better-looking crashes. And if you happen to cause one (or wreak havoc in any other way), be prepared for a re-configured wanted system with military coming after you at 5 stars. The police also uses new vehicles and tactics and allows female officers to chase after criminals. This obviously does not exhaust the list of changes – all the new features have been discussed in detail on this website.
