Heroes 7 Mod Gets New Version; Adds New Faction

A new version of the extensive mod titled Heroes of Might and Magic 7.5 has been released, which fixes the seventh installment of the series.

Heroes of Might and Magic is currently lying idle - the last new installment was released 7 years ago. Ubisoft seems to be interested in further development of the brand, but the company is just recruiting people to do so, so we'll have to wait a long time for this project. Fortunately, fans are not going to sit idly by, so interesting modifications for the series are still being released. One of them is the mod called Heroes of Might and Magic 7.5 for Might & Magic: Heroes VII, which has just received a new version.

The modification was created as something between an unofficial patch and an expansion. The project both improves the game and expands it with new elements. Most of the technical bugs have been removed and gameplay balance has been improved. Textures were also tweaked. The project also introduces additional creatures for each faction and new battle cards. In addition, many units received new abilities, and town screens were heavily improved.

It is worth mentioning that in addition to the standard version of the modification, an optional expansion for it, introducing two new factions - the Temple and Xel - is available.

  2. Temple and Xel add-on

The new version of the mod bears the number 1.2.6. It brings mainly balance and performance improvements. It also fixes a lot of bugs. The biggest change is the separation of the Xel faction into a separate expansion and the addition of the Temple (before that, Xel was available in a simplified form in the main version of the mod).

Might & Magic: Heroes VII was released in September 2015. The game is available exclusively on PC. In 2016, the game received its first and only expansion in the form of Trial by Fire. Heroes of Might and Magic 7.5 requires both the basic version of the game and this expansion to work.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that this is not the only project of this type. An alternative is the modification called Unoffical Community Mod (UCP). In contrast to Heroes of Might and Magic 7.5, UCP focuses mainly on bug fixes and doesn't make as many changes to content and gameplay. So it could be an interesting proposition for purists.
