Trial by Fire will be a standalone expansion.

Ubisoft announced Might & Magic Heroes VII: Trial by Fire, a standalone expansion for the last year’s installment in the cult turn-based strategy series. It will continue the plots of the original Might & Magic Heroes VII while being set five years after the events in the game. The story will focus on a tension between the Holy Griffin Empire and the neighbouring Dwarven Kingdom of Grimheim. According to the official announcement, the add-on will offer two campaigns, six skirmish maps, and two bonus scenario maps written by Terry B. Ray, the writer of Heroes of Might and Magic IV.

Trial by Fire is also going to introduce a new playable faction: the Fortress, masters of Rune Magic. Before the release of Might & Magic Heroes VII fans could decide which faction should appear in the game – they voted between the Sylvan and the Fortress in favor of the former, but it seems now the Fortress is coming anyway. Besides, Ubisoft promises improved mechanics, which will also be transferred to the original game through a free update. Might & Magic Heroes VII: Trial by Fire is launching on PC on June 2, 2016.
