Hohokum devs announce Loot Rascals, a light-hearted sci-fi roguelike

Loot Rascals is the new project from the developers of Hohokum. This new game is going to be a light-hearted sci-fi roguelike with an innovative skill system.

Hollow Ponds, the creators of Hohokum, have revealed their next project to be Loot Rascals, a science-ficion roguelike that is planned to release on PC and PlayStation 4 in 2017. You will play as an astronaut who crashlanded on the surface of a hostile planet. While traversing this procedurally generated world you will encounter a multitude of aggressive aliens and robots whom you will have to face in a hard fight for survival.

What’s especially interesting about Loot Rascals is the skill system. The protagonist figths using various abilities represented by skill cards (only a limited number of them can be active at the same time), which are dropped by slain enemies – you lose them upon dying, too. If that happens, your cards are taken by the monster that killed you, which is then transferred onto another player’s server. When that player kills the enemy and picks up the cards, they can decide whether to take them for themselves or return them to you – choosing the latter would spawn a hologram of your character that may temporarily aid them in combat.

Like Hohokum, Loot Rascals is going to feature colorful 2D graphics and light-hearted humor. See what the game looks like on these screenshots:
