How many Rebel Moon movies there will be? Here are Netflix and Zack Snyder's plans

Starting today, you can watch Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire on Netflix. In the show, viewers will see how the main character, Kora, helps to create a resistance movement, thanks to which the fight against the oppressive Empire will finally be possible. On April 19, 2024, Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver will be released, which will complement the story from the first part, closing the first chapter of Snyder's space saga.

Both productions will be complemented by the announced director's cuts, designed to refresh the format, as they have been planned from the very beginning of work on Rebel Moon. The additional content is expected to bring an hour of new footage, making the space opera last longer than three hours, reportedly completely changing the experience.

In early December, rumors regarding Rebel Moon 3 surfaced. Zack Snyder reportedly confirmed that he was working on a script for the film, but for now, the future of the franchise seems uncertain. The production cost of both parts of Rebel Moon supposedly reached $165 million, and A Child of Fire has received mostly negative reviews so far. The future of the new universe will depend on the viewership.

Perhaps the series will be aided by additional materials that are in the pipeline. Zack Snyder plans prequel films, but in an unusual form. The history of the universe is to be expanded to include a narrative podcast, a comic book and an animated series. According to the creator, this will help viewers better understand the entire presented story. We'll actually find out in a few months whether Snyder will be able to realize his new vision, when The Scargiver will also become available.
