An interesting offer for pixel art enthusiasts has appeared on Steam. Kindom Eighties is another installment of minimalist 2D strategy game series. This time the action takes us to a small town in the 1980s.
This afternoon, a spin-off of an interesting indie strategy series by Fury Studios will go live on Steam. Kingdom Eighties: Summer of Greed. While previous games in the Kingdom series took place in medieval times, the latest installment takes us to a small American town in the 1980s.
What is Kingdom Eighties all about? We take on the role of a team of teenagers, whose task will be to defend the town against monsters created by a mysterious force called the title Greed.
To do this, our heroes will put up barriers and barricades to stop the beasts from reaching the town. As with previous installments in the series, we watch the action from the side.
As the player, we have to traverse the world looking for raw materials that will be used to create thge defenses. In the previous parts we did it on horseback, here we swap mounts for bicycles and skateboards.
The graphics use a nice, pixel art style, and the atmosphere of the 80s is further enhanced by synthwave music.
The good news is that you can run the game even on slower hardware. PC requirements are included below.
In addition to today's launch on Steam, the developers plan to release Kingdom Eighties on PS5, XSX and Nintendo Switch in 2024.
