Microsoft Edge Imports Data From Firefox Without User Consent

More and more dissatisfied users say that Microsoft Edge imports data from other browsers without their knowledge.

Microsoft Edge appeared even on the no longer supported Windows 7.

There have been reports on the web from users saying that Microsoft Edge browser is importing data from Firefox without their knowledge. Interestingly, this is even the case when we manually close the Edge process.

The problem arose after the recent release of Microsoft Edge browser based on Chromium engine. Now the system automatically sets it as the default browser. As far as data is concerned, users mainly inform about Firefox, however, there have been some mentions of attempts to import information from other browsers (e.g. Brave). Everything is done without user's consent. The situation does not occur every time and there are voices saying that they have not encountered such a problem. Nevertheless, many of the users of Microsoft's system are outraged. As one of Reddit users claims:

"Love rebooting my computer to get treated to a forced tour of a browser I'm not going to use that I have to force close through the task manager to escape, and then finding out it's been copying over my data from Firefox without permission."

We don't know what is caused by such behavior. Microsoft hasn't commented on the situation yet. We just have to wait for an official statement.
