Microsoft to Face EU Officials; Meeting Date Revealed

Next week there will be an extremely important meeting between representatives of the Redmond giant and the European Commission for the fate of the merger between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard.

The matter of Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard is still highly uncertain, so the Americans are doing everything in their power to see the deal through. As we've already seen, it's not easy, because the possible impact of the merger on the video game market is being watched by international regulators. Admittedly, some of them have already given Microsoft a positive verdict, but there are also parties who are openly voicing their doubts. Among them is the European Commission, which recently sent Microsoft an antitrust warning.

In response to the letter, on February 21, Microsoft representatives will appear before EC officials to defend the Activision Blizzard acquisition deal at a special hearing. Undoubtedly, this will be an extremely important meeting for the Xbox manufacturers, as it could bring the corporation significantly closer to finalizing the merger.

Interestingly, as reported by FOSS Patents, representatives of Sony may also appear at the said hearing. Microsoft's Japanese competitor has long been trying to prevent the deal from happening.

It is worth mentioning that the meeting will not be public, but we have no doubt that we will receive numerous information from the participating parties afterwards.
