NBA 2K23 - PC Fans Will Once Again Get an Inferior Version

For the past few years, 2K Games has been releasing the old-gen version of its basketball series on PC, much to fans' displeasure. This year, PC gamers will once again get an inferior experience.

As we already mentioned in one of our previous news, 2K Games has officially announced the next installment of their basketball series. The publisher took the opportunity to present a special edition of NBA 2K23 with the legendary Michael Jordan on the cover. In the most expensive edition, fans will even find a League Pass subscription entitling them to follow all NBA league games.

Here we go again

However, it's most likely that the publisher's marketing gimmicks will be of no use. Thanks to official FAQ on 2K's website, we learn that NBA 2K23 will provide the best experience only on PS5 and Xbox SX/S. As for the other platforms (including PC), the developers will offer the game in the version for the previous generation.

A: This is something the team is passionate about and will continue to investigate what is possible for the franchise in the future. For now, the focus was on assuring NBA 2K23 was optimized for the new consoles (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S), while also making sure the experience remains fresh and innovative for players on other platforms. - a confirmation of PC users' concerns.

It's been done before...

The above situation is amusing in that 2K Games has published the identical information note last year - the company only changed "NBA 2K22" to "NBA2K23" (we wrote about this here).

The Internet is angry

Such treatment of PC gamers was met with considerable dissatisfaction on the Internet. Sites such as Reddit were flooded with negative comments from PC userswho were once again treated badly by 2K Sports and Visual Concepts. You can read some of the messages below.

Cool, another year of not buying NBA 2K. - jasoncyke.

I want a good 2k game on PC but I don't purchase microtransactions, so they don't want me. - Squirting_Nachos.

They're just rehashing the same game every year and they have the audacity to pretend that they lack development time - tdannyt.

Again? That is plain laziness. Thanks 2k for ensuring the game is only fresh and innovative on certain platforms. - alexislemarie.

As we can see, the situation likes to repeat itself, and the company responsible for the basketball series has nothing to do with the complaints of PC gamers. Perhaps a firm opposition of fans against 2K will get them the expected response from the corporation.

Meanwhile, you can watch the trailer for the upcoming NBA 2K23 Michael Jordan Edition, which will debut on September 9, 2022. The game will be available on PC and PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.
