Criterion Games is known for its work on several installments of Need for Speed. In addition to the latest Unbound the British developer also created the warmly remembered Hot Pursuit from 2010, and the polarizing Most Wanted from 2012. A recent announcement on LinkedIn suggests that the company is already working on the next installment of the venerable brand.

Wanted employee

In the job posting, the company notes that the project it is developing is to:

"[...] challenge the conventions of the racing game genre to take the Need for Speed series to a higher level."

The job of the employee hired as a world designer would be to create a "game space" together with a team of artists, level designers and programmers. Of interest may be the ad's mention of work on the structure of the open world, suggesting that the emerging game will follow in the footsteps of recent entries in the series.

"We are looking for an experienced designer, who will help us in our new and exciting endeavor to create an open world offering the player a fast, intense and authentic experience."

The news about ongoing work on a new installment of the series also looks quite interesting in the context of recent rumors related to a potential remake of the iconic Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Thus, there is a possibility that the person accepted for the position from the announcement will be directed to work precisely on the new incarnation of the beloved game from 2005.
