Tonight will see the launch of Once Human, a survival action game that has the makings of becoming the next big hit on Steam. The title will be available on a free-to-play model.
Once Human, an action survival game with MMO elements by Starry Studio, will make its debut today. The premiere will only take place on PC. The developers aren't ready to disclose when the game will be released for mobile devices with iOS and Android systems.
Interest in the game is high, as shown by several numbers:
So the expectations for the game are huge. Once Human has the potential to become a massive success if the devs can meet the players' expectations, given the current popularity of survival games.
In an interview with PCGamesN, the developers promise a large open world, offering attractions for both cooperation and PvP lovers, as well as players who prefer to play alone. At the same time, however, they emphasize that they haven't designed a game that will try to satisfy all tastes, and Once Human has a unique identity, especially in terms of atmosphere and world design, as well as monsters, each of which requires different tactics to defeat.
The devs also have ambitious development plans after the premiere. Apart from fixes and gameplay improvements, based on community suggestions, we can also expect regular content expansion, through patches, events, and add-ons.
In the interview, the developers also mentioned that some good ideas weren't ultimately implemented because they didn't fit the character of the game. For instance, initially, the creators wanted the game to be more realistic. That's why they developed a system that required players to regularly supply resources to their territory, creating something like a rent. Early version testers, however, thought it was exhausting, and survival elements should be enjoyable rather than a duty to fulfill. That's why this mechanic was removed.
The system requirements for the PC version of the game are worth mentioning.
