PayDay 3 production has officially started

It’s been quite some time since we first heard that PayDay 3 was going to happen, but only now has the publisher announced that the game is officially in the works and at full design state.

Starbreeze AB has proudly announced that the production of PayDay 3 has officially been initiated and it’s at a full design state. Obviously, the publisher said nothing about the release date, only that since PayDay is their most significant franchise they intend to devote as much time and attention to the game as it needs – the classic phrase “it will be done when it’s done” was used too. In other words, we won’t be seeing PayDay 3 any time soon and neither will we hear very often about it: “Updates in the near future might be scarce and far between”, reads the official announcement in the company’s year report.

Fans probably can’t wait for the next PayDay.

The same document also mentions PayDay: Crime War, a mobile spin-off of the series. This game’s development has been moved to another studio, BadFly Interactive. The project is now in advanced production stage and is already fully playable in multiplayer with the backend in place. In the following months the studio will be dedicated to delivering more content and gameplay tweaks, and we’ll probably be hearing more about it.

Other upcoming games in Starbreeze AB’s publishing catalogue are: RAID: World War II, OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead, Crossfire co-op game and Geminose. All projects are doing fine.
