New story, new dangers, and – most importantly – more hours of god old gaming.

Today marks the launch of The White March Part I, the first add-on to Obsidian Entertainment’s this year’s old-school RPG Pillars of Eternity. The expansion is going to be available later today via digital distribution (GOG.com, Steam). All owners of the base game will get a free update to version 2.0. The patch will introduce some essential gameplay improvements (more about that here).

The White March Part I introduces a new story set after the events presented in the original campaign. This next adventure takes you to the region known as the White March, where you get to unravel ancient dwarven secrets. For the sake of new story missions and side quests, the level cap has been raised to 14. Besides, the crew is joined by two new characters – Zahua the Monk and The Devil of Caroc, introduced in the videos below:

Despite it being called Part I, the first episode of The White March features a complete story, without making an impression of being cut in half. Obsidian Entertainment promises that Part II will be a whole new chapter in the lore, existing as a consequence of some events in Part I.
