Planet Coaster 2’s new roadmap proves there’s still hope for this theme park sim
Frontier is fixing Planet Coaster 2’s flaws, one update at a time. But is it finally living up to expectations?

Planet Coaster 2 had a pretty rough launch – so much so that more people are still sticking with the first game. Players weren’t happy with the janky and confusing UI, the lack of content, the guest limit, and those frustrating power and water systems. Even months later, it still has mixed reviews on Steam. But lately, player feedback has been more positive, and with Frontier’s new roadmap, things are finally starting to look up.
What’s new for 2025
More rides, more themes, and much-needed features – that’s what Frontier is promising with monthly updates. The February update already added some solid improvements, like custom speakers, video billboards, and a better management and economy system. And it looks like it’s slowly rebuilding trust with players giving Planet Coaster 2 another shot.
The Western Theme is finally making a comeback in March, but most players are more excited for April’s “build your own restaurant” feature. Plus, Frontier Workshop is getting some upgrades, like a “What’s Hot” list, a Creators list, and alerts when your favorite creators drop something new. There’s still no word on what’s coming in May and beyond, but each update should help improve the game’s stability and performance.
Improving, but still work in progress
While the early feedback wasn’t exactly glowing, things seem to be turning around. Current reviews are saying:
While the game definitely shipped incomplete, it’s currently shaping up to be exactly what I wanted from a sequel.
This game is slowly becoming much better. These new updates are considerable improvements over first launch however there is still a long way to go.
whilst it does have a few rough edges, the core park simulation is as entertaining as ever
Even though recent reviews are mostly positive, not all players are happy. Some feel Planet Coaster 2 is too similar to the original, unfinished, and overpriced, saying it should’ve launched in early access. Others are frustrated that Frontier is already selling paid DLCs instead of adding more features and themes to the base game.
So, if you’re still on the fence about Planet Coaster 2 and not just waiting for it to hit Game Pass, it’s probably best to hold off a little longer for more updates or a big discount. Let’s just hope Jurassic World Evolution 3 turns out better!
