Skyrim Runs Terribly on Switch But Costs $69.99

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition, recently released for Switch, turned out to be an aweful port. In some places the performance can drop to as low as 17 fps.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition, a port of the refreshed version of the hit RPG by Bethesda, recently arrived on Nintendo Switch. It turns out that the release for this console is extremely unpolished.

  1. Players report, that in many places the game runs at significantly less than 30 frames per second.
  2. Many people are also having problems with the game crashing and major slowdowns in cities, especially in Riften.
  3. Some fans suspect the mods offered by the Anniversary Edition. They suggest that Bethesda didn't test them properly before the release and that's why Nintendo's console can't handle them.
  4. The situation is exacerbated by the fact that Bethesda set the game's price on Switch to $69.99 or $19.99 for an upgrade for those who had the standard version of Skyrim for that console.

Performance problems on the Switch are well illustrated by the above video published on the Xiphos Gaming channel. In Riften, the game can go as slow as 17 frames per second.

Such a condition of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition on Switch is unacceptable, especially considering the high price of this release. Bethesda is famous for underdeveloped games, but in this case we are talking about a refreshed version of an eleven-year-old title. So even this team should be bale to deliver a product in better technical condition.

As a consolation, it can be mentioned that Bethesda has admitted that it is receiving reports from players about these shortcomings and is currently checking how to fix them. It remains to be hoped that the developers will quickly release patches to fix these problems.
