Space Marine 2's big anniversary update brings something all Chaos fans have been waiting for

Last week, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 received a major 8.0 update, which brought, among other things, the much-anticipated horde mode. The devs still have ambitious plans for further development of this game and have just shared specifics about what can be expected in the coming months.

Space Marine 2's second year of development

First of all, it was announced that Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will get a second year of support.

1. This will include both updates and paid expansions. These DLCs will be part of the second annual season pass.
2. Full plans will be revealed in due time, but the developers promise new PvE missions, new types of enemies and weapons, and other surprises.
3. The second year of the game's development will kick off in September, along with the first anniversary of Space Marine 2. Then the major 10.0 update will appear.

Patch 10.0 with new PvP mode

All of this has caused some changes in the developers' previous plans. The new PvP mode being prepared for the 9.0 update has been moved to 10.0. As a result, patch 9.0 will only bring balance improvements.

The devs also revealed the first specifics about this new PvP mode.

1. We'll be battling other players on a new map designed specifically for these kinds of matches.
2. In the current version of the competition, the loyal Emperor's Space Marines fight against their former brothers who have succumbed to the influence of Chaos. However, in the new PvP mode, two groups of Chaos supporters will face off against each other.
3. We will also receive new Chaos armors, as well as the ability to control Helbrutes, which is a version of Dreadnought belonging to the forces of Chaos.
4. Patch 10.0 will also bring a new type of weapon in the form of Power Axe.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 was released on September 9, 2024, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

Right now, the game can be purchased in the Summer Sale on Steam for $35.99 (which is 40% cheaper than the standard price). The discount will end on July 10th.
