Fans have discovered a disturbing new cutscene in Stardew Valley. In Update 1.6, Eric Barone decided to punish players using a bug that allows them to get to a certain location faster.
Yesterday, a huge update to Stardew Valley was released, which attracted a lot of people. The list of changes could be intimidating in length -- despite this, there were a few minor corrections today -- but there was no mention of a rather disturbing secret.
The creator of this idyllic RPG, Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, decided to shatter the fourth wall, like the creators of some productions with horror elements (such as Doki Doki Literature Club or Undertale). The novelty that he introduced to the game along with the 1.6 update, concerns a popular glitch.
As noticed by Reddit user Snail51, a new "cutscene" has appeared in The Summit, a location available only after completing Stardew Valley. If a player manages to get there prematurely, by exploiting a glitch related to crossing the map boundaries, Mr. Qi will greet them. When the music fades and our character stares at the strangely looking background with falling icons, the mysterious stranger will say:
Well, well, well. Look who made it to the Summit. You thought you were so clever? You thought: "How could I exploit a bug to my advantage?" Or more simply: "I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want, I want." That's mean.
Immediately after this, the game scares you with a kind of "jump-scare" -- Mr. Qi suddenly approaches, and we wake up in Harvey's clinic. It must be admitted that this is a very interesting "easter egg" added by Eric Barone, who instead of completely eliminating the error from the game, decided to surprise fans.
It's worth noting that there is no actual benefit to reaching The Summit, so Mr. Qi is being very dramatic. Nonetheless, it's an interesting move, prompting one to wonder whether fans will soon discover other similar secrets added as part of the 1.6 update.
