Excellent jRPG Tales of Arise Launches

Tales of Arise launches today. Bandai Namco's new jRPG collects high marks from critics and players alike. It also achieves impressive activity results on Steam.

Tales of Arise, a action jRPG by Bandai Namco Entertainment from one of the oldest franchises of this type, has launched.

The game debuted simultaneously on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The PC edition is available on Steam. It is worth mentioning that the developers have prepared a demo, so you can test it before you spend money. The official website lists only demo versions for consoles, but the game can also be checked out on PC.

A lot of reviews have already appeared on the web and it seems that the game is an excellent proposition for fans of jRPGs. On Metacritic, the PC version has an average rating of 81%. In the case of the Xbox Series X version it is 84%, and 87% for the PS5 version. The PlayStation 4, release ends up last, with an average of only 79%. In the case of the Xbox One, too few reviews have appeared so far.

The game receives praise for its polished combat system and interesting story with intriguing characters. The criticism is mainly that the campaign slows down noticeably at some points. The majority of reviewers feel that it's the best instalment in years and a game that modernises the brand. It is possible that thanks to this will attract players who so far avoided the series.

The opinions of critics are seconded by players. On Steam, 90% of user reviews are positive, which the service categorizes as "very positive reception". The title also recorded a very successful debut in terms of popularity. At the hottest moment of the release day, Tales of Arise was played by 30,887 people at the same time on Steam. For comparison, the activity record for Tales of Berseria, the previous main installment of the series, is 8,085 players.
