“That was also a struggle.” After Steve Carell's departure, things were chaotic on the set of The Office
The departure of Steve Carell was quite a challenge for the crew and cast of The Office, on the set of which chaos ensued.

Steve Carell was the star of The Office and the series wasn’t the same without him and his Michael Scott. Even on the set after his departure there was chaos, as Rainn Wilson told in the Good Guys podcast. The actor recalled how they struggled to find their footing at the beginning in the first season, but overcame this obstacle and were able to provide viewers with excellent entertainment for the following seasons.
Wilson also returned with memories to the time when Steve Carell decided to leave The Office, which continued without him, even though he played the main character. The actor confessed that it was quite a challenge for the cast and crew, as they lost their leading man.
When Steve left, then it was a little bit chaotic of trying to figure out the tone of the show and who’s the lead and, how are we telling these stories without, you know, the comic engine of the show, which is Michael Scott, and without one of the greatest comic actors in American history at the center of our show. That was also a struggle.
Rainn Wilson admitted, however, that despite these problems, unlike surprised fans, they expected Steve Carell to decide to end his journey with The Office, as he was “such a big movie star” at the time.
We knew it was coming for a long time.
Without Steve Carell, The Office continued for two seasons until it came to an end in 2013. And Carell, after leaving the series, developed his film career with the help of the Crazy, Stupid, Love, Despicable Me franchise, Hope Springs and The Way Way Back.
