Warhammer 40K: Darktide - Scriptures and Grimoires Explained

If you want to find out what Scriptures and Grimoires are, then be sure to read this article. It will give you the answers to your questions.

One of the important mechanics in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is the collection of Scriptures and Grimoires. Very often these are side objectives that you can complete to get additional rewards. In this article, we will talk about them and explain how they work.

Remember that Warhammer 40K: Darktide is pre-order beta game, so the information provided here may become outdated over time.

If you are curious about other Darktide topics, please see our guide - Warhammer 40K: Darktide Guide.

Scriptures and Grimoires Function

As mentioned earlier Scriptures and Grimoires act as side activities during missions. Some quests may have Secondary Objectives involving the collection of these items. Completing them will allow you to earn additional rewards - money and Trust. Note, however, that they do not appear in all missions. You can check this on the right-hand side of the task selection screen.

In fact, you can only seriously start searching for Scriptures and Grimoires from level 11 onwards. This is because then you unlock access to a new vendor - Sir Merk's Requisitorium. At his place you will review active Weekly Contracts. Among them, the objective of acquiring Scriptures or Grimoires often appears. By completing these contracts you will earn special currency, which you can spend on powerful purple and orange (legendary) weapons or gambling.

The handling of Scriptures and Grimoires differs slightly, so we have discussed them in separate sections.

Scriptures

Scriptures take up space for an item. So you need to bear in mind that if you pick them up, you will not be able to carry Ammo or Medkit crate. However, you can drop them in an emergency. If you do, remember to pick them up again.

Should I use grimuars?

As with Scriptures, Grimoires will take the place of an item. However, they cannot be dropped. Instead, they can be used (key 3), but this will destroy them and you will not be able to complete the Secondary Objective.

In addition, picking up Grimoures will cause your health to decrease - you will be consumed by corruption (purple curse). You can only heal this at the medicae station. Remember about it, especially on higher difficulty levels.

Locations of Scriptures and Grimoires

At the moment, we cannot give you the exact locations of the Scriptures and Grimoires, but we are working on it, so you can check back here regularly. However, we do have some practical tips for you.

Determining the location of Scriptures and Grimoires is not easy due to the fact that there are several possible locations where these items appear. However, it seems that mostly (this is not a rule) there is 1 special Scripture per stage of the game. By stages we mean locations separated by lifts or places of no return. It is also worth bearing in mind that, supposedly, Scriptures can sometimes appear in ordinary containers. Remember that Scriptures and Grimoires lying on the ground have a green glow - so you can spot them in dark corners by following this colour.
