„Who Told You That?” That '70s Show Actor Clarified Whether Chuck Norris Was Actually Going to Play Red
Was Chuck Norris really going to appear in That '70s Show? The sitcom star spoke about it.
That '70s Show is a sitcom from more than 25 years ago that is still popular and has not been forgotten by fans to this day. This is evidenced by the recent decision to create a sequel, That '90s Show , the first season of which debuted on Netflix in 2023.
It's probably hard to imagine this TV series with a different cast, and especially with a different actor in the role of the unforgettable Red, played by Kurtwood Smith in both productions. However, there is a rumor circulating around the web that Reginald Forman could be played by Chuck Norris. Really, it is said that the iconic Texas Ranger was set to appear in That '70s Show in that role, as allegedly he was offered it before it went into Smith's hands.
But is it true? Smith himself spoke on the matter, and decided to clarify how it really was with Red's role.
No, it’s not true at all. It certainly was a well-spread rumor. I remember asking the producers about it at one point and they were, “No, who told you that?”. That was all pretty much made up.
So the matter was clarified, Norris was in fact never meant to be Red. In addition, this was confirmed by Debra Jo Rupp, who added to Smith's statement: “No, noooo. There's no way I would have let that happen. No”.
Norris may not have shown up and was not supposed to show up in this role, but we got Smith, who showed us an unforgettable performance. Now viewers can also get a glimpse of it in That '90s Show, where his character is also featured.
