You’ve probably heard of earning points through things like buying games, completing challenges, or finishing quests. It’s a common feature on platforms like the PlayStation Store and Microsoft’s services. But one player took it to a whole new level. He spent five years collecting enough Microsoft Rewards points to buy... a brand-new PS5 console. Talk about dedication and setting a goal.

Five years of collecting Microsoft Rewards points

On Reddit, a user named JTizzle14 proudly shared his achievement with the cheeky comment, “Thank you, Microsoft Rewards,” after snagging a brand-new PS5. The backstory? Since 2019, he had been saving up points through Microsoft’s rewards program—all to eventually purchase a PlayStation console.

After five years of dedication, JTizzle14 managed to rack up an impressive 390,000 points. However, that wasn’t quite enough to cover the full cost of a PS5, which requires around 580,000 points. To close the gap, JTizzle14 sold his old PS4 Pro and then scored a great deal on Best Buy, where he was able to redeem his points and make the purchase.

The situation is a bit ironic, considering that JTizzle14 used Microsoft’s loyalty program to buy a PS5. He also shared some insights about his Xbox One S, stating he has no plans to shut it down or sell it. In fact, he intends to use it more, especially since he plays Series X/S games through streaming on his smartphone with xCloud. I can’t help but wonder if we’ll eventually hear about a player who uses their PlayStation Stars points to snag a brand-new Xbox console. Who knows—maybe there’s a dedicated gamer out there working tirelessly to make that happen.

How do you earn some many points?

In another post, JTizzle14 explained how he managed to accumulate so many points. Typically, you earn points by shopping in the Microsoft Store, playing specific games, or completing Game Pass quests. He also connected his Microsoft account to the Bing search engine, allowing him to earn points for every search he made on both his PC and smartphone. Remarkably, JTizzle14 racked up a total of 100,000 points just through Bing searches. That level of patience and dedication is truly something else.
