Returnal: Dash - why is it disabled?

When you are exploring the main and optional locations in Returnal, you may see a Dash Disabled message on the screen. This means that you are not allowed to use dashes/dodges activated by pressing Circle on the controller.

Receiving a message about dash being blocked is not a bug or our mistake. Some zones do not allow you to use dash and it's disabled automatically once you enter these locations. This was done deliberately by the game developers in order to increase the level of difficulty. The block happens usually when exploring optional locations.

Despite the block, we can still go through the location. If there are traps in the particular location (e.g. lasers), then rely on jumping and running forward once it is safe to do so.

Fortunately, the described status is not received permanently. When you exit the location with the block, you will receive a Dash Re-Enabled message.
