Subnautica: Alien eggs - what to do with them?

Various alien eggs are scattered throughout the entire planet.

While they are not used in any crafting, you can use them as a power source.
If you have a Bioreactor, you have to fuel it with organic matter, such as plants, to keep it running. Plants, however, are not the most efficient fuel, and don't last very long. That's why you should look for alien eggs. They generate much more power, which means you won't have to replace them as often, sparing you the need to visit your bases.
But there's an even better option - research and craft an Alien Containment. You can put an egg inside the containment, and after a certain period of time, it will hatch into a certain species of fish. Once it happens, guess what? You can also use it as a power source for the reactor, only a much more efficient one that the egg
