Deep Rock Galactic uses the popular and extremely powerful Unreal Engine 4, which was produced by Epic Games. Thanks to Unreal Engine 4, Deep Rock Galactic offers high-quality visuals that done in an original graphics style based on polygons.

Deep Rock Galactic system requirements

Below are the official minimum and recommended Deep Rock Galactic system requirements for PC. The game runs on Unreal Engine 4, so weaker machines may have trouble generating the best quality graphics with realistic lighting and shadows. However, Deep Rock Galactic played on minimum settings can still give you a lot of fun.

Graphic options in Deep Rock Galactic

The various graphics options available in Deep Rock Galactic allows you to find a balance between the quality of the graphics and the gameplay smoothness - this is especially true for weaker computers with older graphics cards. Those who have more powerful PCs will have no problems with the game's framerate, but they can always improve its quality and readability. Below is a list of graphic options available in Deep Rock Galactic along with an explanation of what they are for and whether they can be turned off or modified.

Even before its official release, Deep Rock Galactic has attracted a lot of interest from players either through Steam Early Access or the demo version from the Microsoft Store - Deep Rock Galactic: PC system requirements - Appendix - Deep Rock Galactic Guide
  1. Resolution - this option determines the resolution of the Deep Rock Galactic. Set your display's native resolution, such as 1920x1080, to get a satisfactory image quality. Choosing lower values will blur the image;
  2. Max FPS - an option that specifies the maximum frame rate (FPS) displayed during the game. For example, if you have a monitor that has 144Hz refresh rate, you can set the FPS limit to 144;
  3. Image Sharpening - this option is responsible for sharpening objects. You can improve their focus, but at the cost of losing a few frames;
  4. Gamma - this option is responsible for brightening or dimming the image;
  5. Resolution scale - an option responsible for the quality of the displayed graphics. By default, this value should be at 100%, but for weaker computers it can be reduced to 90%. Remember that lowering it will make the game look worse;
  6. Texture Resolution - option responsible for setting graphic details. If you have good machine, you can easily set the value to high or even ultra. Those with weaker graphics cards will have to choose between low and medium settings;
  7. VSync - an option that limits the amount of FPS displayed to a value that prevents the image tearing effect. The game works much better when this option is disabled + you can get additional frames;
  8. Shadow quality - an option responsible for rendering shadows of objects. The higher the resolution and more shadows, the more resources the graphics card will need. To improve the game's smoothness, lower the shadows quality;
  9. Anti-Aliasing - an option responsible for smoothing the edges. Anti-Aliasing unfortunately has some drawbacks, namely blurring the image slightly to make it seem less sharp and jagged;
  10. Post Processing - an option responsible for the game's visual effects such as ambient occlusion or motion blur. The higher the setting, the more power your graphics will need.
  11. Effects - an option responsible for improving the graphics quality, especially special effects such as explosions, shots;
  12. View Distance - an option that specifies the distance from which you can see the elements of the environment. Increasing the value will make all graphics elements visible from a long distance. This, however, will require more processing power.

Deep Rock Galactic problems and PC crash

Even before its official release, Deep Rock Galactic has attracted a lot of interest from players either through Steam Early Access or the demo version from the Microsoft Store. Unfortunately, many PC gamers had already complained about Windows crashes or frame drops happening even on stronger hardware. This, however, can be easily fixed!

Update graphics drivers

Updating the graphics drivers is the first step in fixing the Windows crashes. Depending on your hardware, run GeForce Experience or go to the AMD website and see if you have the newest drivers. If not, download and install them.

Turn off additional monitoring programs that monitor or those enhancing the graphics

Some popular programs for monitoring or overclocking the graphics card, such as MSI Afterburner, GIGABYTE Easy Tune, EVGA PrecisionX, AMD Overdrive, or RivaTuner Statistic Server can cause problems in Deep Rock Galactic. Turn off additional programs and see if the problem is still present.
