Even if SimCity has the answer to what a city-builder looks like, there was another title, released a few years later, that enthralled all fans of the genre. Cities: Skylines is a successor of Cities in Motion, a title that had covered the topic on a lesser scale, focusing on transportation only. This time, we dealt with an entire city, worrying about zoning for residents and industry, services, taxes, transportation, snow ploughing, energy, road maintenance, natural disasters and a million other things.

Cities: Skylines is another huge success in Paradox's portfolio, as the publisher supported the Finish creators of this city builder. The game garnered positive reviews and was a huge commercial success, probably aided by the creation of versions for consoles, where such games pretty much don't exist. In total, over 6 million copies were sold on all platforms, and this is the data from March 2019. Today, the number of copies sold has probably grown, as the game is still supported and receives new DLCs constantly.
