25 Best Hack'n'slash Games - Devilishly Good List!

We're back with another TOP 25 list. This time of the best hack and slash titles. 2023 brought fresh air to the genre, so let's dive right in!

Table of Contents

11. Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem

Probably a lot of people will be dissatisfied with the position of Wolcen in this ranking. Some will say it's "wood" like few others, a standard hack'n'slash that is not worth highlighting, and a copy of Diablo III and Path of Exile . The other camp notes that this is the best representative of the genre in years, which wipes out the competition with its visuals, and generally there hasn't been such a decent title in a long time. And you know what? Both sides may be right.

The game Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem was developed on a pile of promises, high expectations, and problems. Ultimately, the game changed both the title and several important project assumptions (abandoning the open world concept), and also had trouble with a significantly delayed premiere. Even the debut was tough, many things didn't work and we had to wait a long time for the online mode. However, this doesn't change the fact that this production turned out to be an extremely decent representative of its genre.

Although it didn't cause any revolution, it did provide solid mechanics, sometimes frustrating difficulty level, good boss fights, and a possibility to build your own character . This is accompanied by three types of resources, a special apocalyptic form, and an interesting passive skills tree - there's plenty to choose from!

It all sounds pretty good, but you also have to remember that Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is also a very uneven position. There are moments when the difficulty level increases dramatically, only to soon drop so low that the player can't believe it's the same game. The length of the campaign and the not-so-great endgame in online mode can also be not very satisfying.

In addition, it quickly turns out that Wolcen simply lacks content. So we have to wait for the new acts and updates. However, it's obvious that the developers are actively working on this title, regularly releasing patches to fix bugs and announcing enough attractions to give players something to do. Time will tell whether in the long run the game will develop or waste its potential - and that potential is quite great!
