25. Victor Vran. 25 best hack'n'slash hames of all time (2023)
Table of Contents
Can the developers of several installments of the Tropico series make a good hack'n'slash? Why not, the Bulgarian team from Haemimont Games proved to be quite adaptable. It's true that Victor Vran may not be the best game in the genre, but it's doing quite well.
In the game, we step into the shoes of the title character, Victor Vran, who ends up in Transylvania, or rather Zagoravia, but the similarities aren't coincidental. The plot shouldn't be bothered with, because it isn't compiled. Our friend needs help, so we set out on a journey. On occasion, we save the land from danger.
It's worth noting that the combat has a heavily arcade-like design. Standing still and shooting with guns is out of the question. The gameplay forces players to make dodges and constantly use protagonist's skills. These, on the other hand, vary depending on what our hunter is currently wielding. Although there is no division into classes, we can assign abilities to specific types of weapons and develop our protagonist as we please. We'll also find destiny cards that provide special powers.
Multiplayer is available, where we'll test ourselves in duels with other players or invite them to co-op play. Victor Vran is no revolution, but it can safely be considered something solid and quite nice. It's a pity that there is no NG mode.
