8 Elements From Other Games We'd Like to See in Cyberpunk 2077

What will Cyberpunk 2077 be like? We have no idea yet. We know what solutions and mechanics the devs from CDPR could take from other games and implement – now or in later updates.

Difficulty levels for fans of action and storyline

Some people in our office seem to believe that Cyberpunk 2077 may not turn out to as action-packed as it might seem from the trailers, as it comes with all the baggage of an RPG. In principal, this problem can be solved by allowing players to highly customize the difficulty level of the adventure. The Last of Us 2 has solved this with as many as five factors influencing the overall challenge.

In Cyberpunk, even a standard story-action split is a must. The first would allow maximum focus on the plot, dialogues and possible choices, while the latter would be designed for fans of combat. Essentially: less talk, more shooting, no sponge enemies. Some RPG standards must be maintained.

SNIPER ELITE

Few games on the market offer such extensive difficulty customization as Sniper Elite. This, of course, isn't easy to implement, because it requires even more testing. Especially in such a huge game like Cyberpunk 2077.

Freerunning a la Dying Light/Mirror’s Edge

Considering two factors: your gun's clip being empty and such an enemy charging at you, some mad parkour skills would be a godsend. - 8 Elements From Other Games We'd Like to See in Cyberpunk 2077 - dokument - 2020-12-01

Fans of stealth and completing games without killing probably don't care that much, but anyone more keen on action, agility, speed, and dealing with enemies head-on would surely appreciate a refined movement system. Something like Dying Light parkour could work well, even if it would only be available occasionally. Freerunning in urban space makes sense, because in the metropolis of Night City there should be no shortage of roofs, ledges, and other objects that allow this type of movement. This would certainly add another layer to some clashes, chases, and escapes.

DON'T RUN ON THE WALLS

By the way, Cyberpunk 2077 actually was supposed to let us to run on walls, and it was even shown in one of the gameplay trailers. Ultimately, however, in the summer of 2020, CD Projekt RED opted out of this mechanic. Gamedev sometimes requires making such difficult decisions. However, this shows the creators had been experimenting with the mobility of our character. Maybe they will be able to refine this element and add it to the game after the release.
