Best Games to Play in Xbox Game Pass 2022

"Netflix for games" or Xbox Game Pass subscription provides access to over a hundred great titles. Here are 17 most interesting games from Microsoft's subscription service that we find the most worthwhile.

Xbox Game Pass is certainly one of the best things that has happened to gaming recently. The idea for a subscription for access to dozens of games may not be particularly innovative or new, but Microsoft has done a particularly good job of it. First of all, it provides a great variety of games from a number of studios, and it is not limited to just a few flagship brands. Therefore each month, we can count on new games to check – both new and older.

What's more, if you choose the PC service or the Ultimate version that offers all the possibilities, we also get access to the Electronic Arts' portfolio in its EA Play subscription. The main disadvantage of Game Pass, however, is the temporary access to many of the games available in the plan. From time to time, selected productions disappear from the offer, so paying a subscription for many months in advance is not a guarantee that we will always have access to our favorite game (except for Microsoft's games developed by Xbox Games Studios).

The richness of Xbox Game Pass means that when you run it for the first time, you can have some trouble choosing the game to install and test. Therefore, we present to you the 17 best games available in the subscription service, Xbox Game Pass. However, take into account that some of them may only be available on PC, while others, only on Xbox. Please refer the text boxes to find out where the game is compatible with your system. It may also happen that – depending on when you read this article – some items have already disappeared from the offer (though we try to keep it up-to-date). Here is our list – in random order.

The list does not name all the great titles available in the Xbox Game Pass service, especially as more are added monthly. Think of it as more of a starting point, a list for first-time subscribers, making it easy to pick some great games to hit the ground running.

A Plague Tale: Innocence

  1. Year: 2019
  2. Developer: Asobo Studio
  3. Genre: TPP action adventure game
  4. Platforms: PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, cloud
  5. In a nutshell: A dark tale about the strength of family ties, with medieval inquisition and rats in the background

What is A Plague Tale: Innocence?

This is quite a unique TPP action game, in which linear gameplay with an emphasis on stealth always remains secondary to engaging narrative and interesting plot. We play as Amicia – a teenage girl trying to save her seriously ill brother Hugo – and set out on a distant and dangerous journey through medieval France, where plague and cruel inquisition are sowing chaos and death.

In addition to the unique theme and captivating story, A Plague Tale is also distinguished by a special technology of rendering swarms of thousands of rats, which are one of the main threats the pair of heroes will have to brave. As the children are not very suitable for spectacular fights with such an opponent, we have to produce a bit cleverer ways to overcome these and other obstacles.

What makes it worth playing?

The game from the French studio is one of those that you don't hear much about before the premiere, but as soon as it launches, it makes greater fuss than many AAAs. The plot is captivating from the very first moments, and we really start rooting for the kids at every step. The relation between the brother and sister has been perfectly depicted here, so their fates will move us more than once.

Besides, A Plague Tale: Innocence looks stunning and is very atmospheric. Medieval reality is evident every step of the way. We see the ruins of castles, a huge cathedral, and even a field after a recent battle. Each location delights with design and artistic delivery. The gameplay is an interesting departure from other action games, as kids can rely solely on cleverness or, at most, a slingshot. The ten hours needed to complete the game seems to be the optimal time not to abandon the game in the middle, and at the same time feel the satisfaction of knowing a complete, interesting story.
