The main Pokemon series has been stagnating for a long time, without actual novelties. Then there was a spin off, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, flirting with an open world. Apparently the fans liked the idea, since the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet / Violet will utilize the idea again. The theme of the game will be the past and the future.

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, apart from the open world and greater freedom in exploration, will also offer more multiplayer options. The main series will introduce more multiplayer elements, extended to four-player co-op. As usual, there will be a new land, new starters and more creatures to catch.
