Assetto Corsa Rally

The Italians really surprised us with this announcement! The title of the most anticipated racing game of the fall suddenly shifted from Project Motor Racing to Assetto Corsa Rally. I can't remember the last time a rally game got me this excited. I've got some doubts about this title, mostly because it doesn't have much content (I mean the final version, not the Early Access), but I still can't wait to play it as soon as I can. I hope the publisher gives me the opportunity to share my impressions with you before the release.

Project Motor Racing

I recently had the chance to play this title... and it had some issues. The release is just around the corner, and the price is pretty steep ($59.99 on Steam). I haven't had the chance to test out the AI skills in a race or experience driving in the rain or at night yet. Besides, I lost count of how many times the game crashed to the desktop during over an hour of testing various cars. Even though driving with a steering wheel is a lot of fun (though not with every car, especially with the default force feedback settings that need tweaking for each one), and the car list is pretty tempting, it might not be enough. Ian Bell might once again confirm his controversial reputation...

In November, among the new racing games, I'm most looking forward not to the final version of Rennsport (I'm completely skipping the Early Access of Assetto Corsa Rally), but to Project Motor Racing, which is another creation by Ian Bell, with whom I have a bit of a "love-hate" relationship. I spent hundreds of hours playing the first two Project CARS games, but the technical issues and some of the controversial choices really got on my nerves. I'm definitely keeping an eye on the new title, but I'll chill and wait for the first players' reviews about any bugs and the quality of the single-player career. I'm really curious about the unusual and risky idea of constantly balancing on the edge while trying to manage the team's budget. However, there's a good chance I'll turn off the "hardcore mode" because restarting the career from scratch just puts me off.
