We play as a likeable worm named Sploosh, whose children were abducted by a mighty sea monster as they were taking a carefree bath. Desperate, Sploosh chases after the beast and manages to get inside its body. Before he manages to rescue his children, he must traverse five worlds inside the monster’s body, facing various obstacles and enemies, overcoming which will require usage of different techniques. One of the most important features is the ability of devouring various bacteria, allowing Sploosh to get some of their DNA strands. This, in turn, lets him obtain many unique skills and affects how other creatures react to his presence.

Auto Warriors is a game set in a post-apocalyptic universe. This is a mobile turn-based strategy, a debut of Gunjin Games. The players take a seat inside heavily armed cars, taking part in a ruthless competition on arenas designed solely for this purpose. The gameplay features an unusual turn-based system, where the players, during short, couple-of-seconds-long breaks, make their moves (all players at the same time), and then the moves are executed (also simultaneously). Thanks to that, the game requires not only a tactical sense but also the ability to think forward. The game offers many different maneuvers and attacks, and the arenas slowly fill with interactive elements, such as traps or jumps. The whole game is seasoned by a system for building and upgrading the cars, allowing thousands of combinations of elements such as wheels, cages, arms, additional gadgets, etc.

A mobile reboot of the cult-classic series of racing games, created by Codemasters Software. In comparison to the original, which was popular in the 90s, the backbone of the gameplay hasn’t changed much. The action is once again presented from a top-down view, with the competition between small, remote-controlled vehicles being the mainstay of the game. The races take place on specially prepared tracks, located in such places as desks, kitchen sinks, or a billiards table. The player has to watch out not only for the enemies, but also for various obstacles like cutlery lying around the track, or even spilled glue. The key to success lies in using power-ups and tuning the vehicles – the number of the latter has increased to over sixty, including very fast, exotic cars, hot rods and muscle cars that are popular among tuners, or even atypical choices for a racing game in form of police cars and hovercrafts. The power-ups available in Micro Machines not only increase the vehicles’ performance, but also their battle potential – during the gameplay, we can use shields, flamethrowers, as well as hard-hitting blasters. Aside from gameplay modes present in the previous installments, a new mode has been introduced – Arena – that forces us to eliminate other competitors. Our results can be stored on an online scoreboard.

RPG, Dungeon Crawler, Fantasy, Classic RPG, Post-apocalypse, Singleplayer, Tactics, Turn-based, Isometric View.

A tactical cRPG, created by Iron Tower – an independent studio, responsible for the highly-praised Age of Decadence. The player enters a fantasy universe, known from the previous games from the studio, connecting Roman Empire stylistics with post-apocalyptic fantasy. In this installment, we assume the role of a prisoner sentenced to spend the rest of his life as a slave in an enormous mine. His only hope is fighting his way back to the surface. The gameplay in Dungeon Rats focuses around combat, with each encounter being unique and directed manually. The battles are turn-based, and the key to success lies not only in using the hero’s abilities, but also in making use of your companions. Our party can hold up to four adventurers, but the acquired experience points are split up between all members – a more numerous party translates into slower growth of the individual heroes. The game is characteristic for its high difficulty level – even the easiest one may prove to be difficult for many players.

An original narrative-driver production developed by the independent studio Everything Unlimited. It is another creation of Davey Wreden, the designer of the popular The Stanley Parable. The game focuses on the story of a complicated relation with a friend known as Coda. He is also a video game developer, and we get to browse the rich library of 134 titles he created. Each of them is a kind of a first-person perspective experience — completing each one takes just a few minutes and what is important: they are devoid of the characteristic elements of video games, such as an ultimate goal or the possibility of failure. The story, which is the main element of The Beginner’s Guide, is based on analysis of human psyche and cannot be unambiguously interpreted. The title is powered by the Source engine, while the gameplay is accompanied by the commentary of Davey Wreden himself, which is an integral part of the complex plot.

Super Mario Maker 3DS, similarly as its predecessor, enables the player to quickly test created levels in order to easily add required improvements. However, unfinished work can be shared with other players only locally. Each feature of the game was adapted to two graphics styles – the original one that references the 8-bit Super Mario Bros and the style of Super Mario Bros. U. The game also supports amiibo figurines thanks to which the player can unlock new skins for the protagonist.

Action, 2D, Shoot 'em Up, Side-scroll, Singleplayer.

A dynamic, side-scrolling shooter created by Pyramid studio. Planet Darius has been invaded by Belsers – an alien army that entrenched itself in the oceans and seas of the whole world. To combat the threat, the planet's inhabitants have prepared a new lethal weapon, the so called Burst System. The gameplay of DARIUSBURST Chronicle Saviours focuses on eliminating hordes of enemies – aside from normal cannon fodder, the enemy ranks are sometimes reinforced by tough bosses. Every level contains various power-ups that increase the firepower of one of the nine available fighters, and influence the attained score. Additionally, a number of varied weapons has been left at our disposal, from rocket launchers through laser cannons and up to energy wave generators. Using the trademark Burst System, which has a lot more stopping power, is limited by a special gauge, filled as we take on subsequent enemies. The game, divided into chapters, contains the entire contents present in DARIUSBURST: Another Chronicle, supplemented by new additions in form of new modes, missions, and vehicles. Among the game modes we can find the story campaign, as well as a set of challenges, and the Chronicle Mode. The latter is a set of 3000 levels unlocked by the players all around the world.

A horror adventure game and the debut production of Antagonist, a Norwegian studio. The action of Through the Woods takes place in modern times in a dark forest somewhere on the western shore of Norway. While playing, we assume the role of a desperate woman named Karen who tries to find her lost son. She is constantly interrupted by various evil creatures inspired by Nordic mythology and Scandinavian folklore. The game has an unusual form of a flashback that takes place while the protagonist is having a sessions with a psychologist. In the title, we mostly explore and solve puzzles, although we will also engage in arcade challenges. Most of them boil down to sneaking or running, though, since the heroine is practically defenseless in direct combat and the only gadget she possess is a torchlight that comes in handy very often.

A mobile fantasy RPG developed by WING Studio. Chaos Chronicle takes place in a realm that combines traits of European Middle Ages, Asian culture and magic. During the game, player assumes the role of a warrior who is a member of an organization tasked with protecting the world from evil. In comparison to most games of the genre, the title has very simplified mechanics and instead of a large story campaign, it offers a series of unrelated challenges, usually focused on elimination of all enemies on the map. The gameplay is similar to classic beat ’em up games, but the players have no control over the movement of the party members who are automatically moving to the right side of the screen and attack the enemies on their own. The player is only tasked with activating various special abilities of each fighter. An important aspect of the game is the possibility to collect and improve characters, selected by the player before each mission.
