Released in October 2021 (on PC, and eventually also on consoles), the strategy game titled Age of Empires IV has received support over the years in the form of add-ons prepared by Relic Entertainment, Forgotten Empires, World’s Edge, and Climax Studios. Age of Empires IV: Dynasties of the East is the third expansion for this production.

Variant civilizations and other novelties

The biggest novelty introduced in Age of Empires IV: Dynasties of the East are four variant civilizations. They were differentiated in terms of strengths and weaknesses, as well as effective strategies. They are:

  1. The Golden Horde, a variant of the Mongols, allows to abandon the nomadic way of life and establish a real base, the heart of which is the Golden Tent, the seat of the khan.
  2. The Macedonian Dynasty is a variant of the Byzantines, whose strength is made up of warriors called Varangians. Unique resources and technologies were made available, providing it with the opportunity for rapid conquest and development based on the production and trade of silver.
  3. Sengoku Daimyo, the Japanese variant, can swear allegiance to the Takeda, Oda, or Hojo clan and alongside one of them, leaving a mark on the fate of Japan from the Sengoku era. The clan choice determines the bonuses, units, and technologies to which it will have access.
  4. The Tughlaq Dynasty, on the other hand, is a variant of the Delhi Sultanate, which owes its position to political cunning. Along with it, a system was introduced into the game that allows for the appointment of governors. Additionally, both on the battlefield and in economic applications, it can make use of elephants.

There are also a new mode for single player, eight maps and six biomes.
