As We Descend is a strategy card game, with elements of a roguelike and a turn-based combat system. The game was created by the Swedish independent studio Box Dragon and released by Coffee Stain Publishing.

Story

In As We Descend we find ourselves in the Crypt-City, located in a dark, post-apocalyptic universe. We embody a member of one of the three main factions, on whose shoulders rests the fate of humanity's last refuge.

A significant plot element is navigating complex political realities and uncovering the mystery of the metropolis.

Gameplay

The central point of As We Descend is the City, serving as the main operational base. We establish relationships with residents, engage in politics, gain allies, and recruit units.

Units have a unique set of cards and abilities. The deck can be modified by adding, removing or upgrading cards, which allows it to be tailored to specific challenges.

Every approach to the game is unique thanks to procedurally generated events. We explore three diverse biomes, discovering secrets and acquiring tools that help in subsequent attempts. Our goal is to reach the core of the land. In case of failure, the acquired experience and knowledge is used in future games.

During battles, it is crucial to strategically position units between the Defense Zone and the Support Zone. It allows for avoiding enemy attacks and creating an effective defense line.
