Beat Hazard 2 is the second installment of a series of ingenious shoot'em ups that started in 2010. The production was developed by the authors of the original, the independent Cold Beam Games studio.
In Beat Hazard 2 we observe the action from the side. We sit at the controls of the spaceship to eliminate enemy troops, with standard opponents acting as cannonballs, and much more powerful bosses with more attack power and higher resistance to damage. Our actions are evaluated by the scoring system on an ongoing basis.
As was the case in the first part of the series, the levels are generated procedurally, based on the selected songs. These affect not only the construction of individual stages, but also the placement of opponents and power-ups, as well as the appearance of bosses. In addition, each song unlocks another ship on which we set off for battle, such as the small but agile Mosquito or the large and slow but heavily armored Brute.
The game supports not only popular file formats such as MP3, WMA, FLAC, AGG, ACC, M4A, WAV and AIFF. Thanks to the Open Mic mode, we can also use other music sources such as Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music or YouTube streaming services; moreover, there's nothing to stop us from using one of the SHOUTcast Internet stations or a specially composed soundtrack by Johnny Frizza.
Beat Hazard 2 lets you play alone or in local cooperation mode. In addition, separate rankings are created for each song, which allows us to compare our scores with those of players from all over the world.
Beat Hazard 2 colorful, two-dimensional graphics make it look pleasing to the eye; the screen is literally flooded with a variety of light effects during the firefight, and the designs of spaceships and enemies in our way are diverse and inventive.
