Natural Disasters is the third, after Snowfall and After Dark, expansion pack to Cities: Skylines. The base game is a classic city builder, which debuted in March 2015 and was enthusiastically welcomed by the fans of the genre, who were waiting for years for a worthy successor to the classic SimCity 4. The expansion and the basic game were developed by Finnish studio Colossal Order which for years specialized in economic strategies. Similarly as in case of other paid DLCs, some of the novelties introduced in Natural Disasters were offered for the owners of the basic game as a free patch.
As the title suggests, Natural Disasters for PC introduces various cataclysms to the game, including fires and meteor strikes which were demanded by the fans since the debut of the basic version of the game. In order to deal with new challenges, the players can use various preventive methods like an early warning system. They can also start an evacuation of the city. A radio is used to warn people and during peaceful times it allows the player to listen to new sound tracks. Natural Disasters introduces a long awaited novelty – the scenario mode that enables the player to create new missions with a customizable settings of the starting city and winning conditions. The custom scenarios can be shared through the Steam Workshop.
