Curse of the Sea Rats is a 2.5D metroidvania game, or, as the creators call it. a ratoidvania, because we play as one of the four characters, which as a result of a curse were turned into rats. Our task is to find the admiral's son, which will not be easy, because many opponents will stand in our way - from the inhabitants of the seabed to creatures born from magic. The game can be played in local cooperation mode or solo. Curse of the Sea Rats is part of a larger universe of animated films, comics and toys.
Curse of the Sea Rats takes us to the coast of Ireland in 1777. We choose on one of the 4 available characters: David Douglas, Bussa, Buffalo Calf, and Akane Yamakawa. They were cursed by a pirate witch and turned into rats. Players will face 11 different scenarios in order to complete the main task - saving the admiral's son.
Curse of the Sea Rats is a representative of the metroidvania genre. At the very beginning we choose one of four characters, each of whom prefers a different weapon and has slightly different skills. As we progress, we get the opportunity to improve both our weapons and power.
As in other games of this type, the task of the player is to demonstrate their dexterity and defeat the hordes of enemies. A wide range of enemies stands in our way, starting with dangerous sea animals and ending with creatures born from magic. From time to time we have a more demanding fight with a boss.
The game can be played solo and in local co-op mode for up to a maximum of 4 people.
The game features fairytale-like, hand-drawn 2.5D graphics, which look like pulled straight from an animated series.
