A third-person action-adventure game from Starward Industries, creators of The Invincible. Their second project combines elements of RPG, survival, and roguelike. It also lacks traditional combat. The protagonist is trying to survive for 30 days and save others after a mysterious volcanic eruption.
Into the Fire is the second game from the Polish studio Starward Industries, following the highly rated The Invincible. This is a non-combat action adventure game with a third-person perspective and focus on exploration, as well as additional RPG, survival, and roguelike elements. This time we are dealing with a fully original production by the Polish developer, released independently by the creators.
In Into the Fire we find ourselves on a mysterious island located in the Pacific Ring of Fire. Although initially it seemed to be part of an extinct volcanic range, it has turned into a vestibule of hell. As a firefighter-engineer, we must face the forces of nature during an unexpected eruption, trying to survive for 30 days. At the same time, we also need to save the lives of as many beings (animals and humans) as possible.
In Into the Fire we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP).
The core of the gameplay includes expeditions to dangerous territories located on the slope of the volcano. This is when we focus on gathering resources and saving lives (our own and others). Moreover, while battling the forces of nature, we discover the secrets of the island hidden deep underground.
The main threats are lava streams, volcanic fires and earthquakes. Systems responsible for the procedural spread of fire and high temperatures have been implemented in the game. In addition to this, from time to time we have to come face to face with supernatural beings that appear in devastated locations.
To survive, we are provided with fire-resistant armor, stylized tools and retro gadgets, as well as vehicles.
Our main resource for fighting flames is water. Holding a fire hose in hand or using special water grenades, we must act carefully, as it is a scarce commodity in the game world.
It is necessary to demonstrate ingenuity and strategic planning of our actions. Only in this way can we solve environmental puzzles and break through obstacles, for example by opening locked doors, breaking a window or a hole in the wall with an axe, or finally giving someone first aid.
Between expeditions, we return to the base where we manage resources and prepare for the next outings. It serves as a shelter for both us and anyone we managed to save.
