DarkSwitch is a city builder, enriched with elements of the tower defense genre. The game was developed by the Cyber Temple studio from Kazakhstan and it is their debut project.

Gameplay

In DarkSwitch we watch the action from a bird's eye view. During the game, we build a city in the branches of a gigantic tree, striving at all costs to ensure its inhabitants the possibility of survival.

City expansion and resources

During the day, we are engaged in the gradual expansion of the city and the development of the technology that drives it. Given that we have a limited amount of horizontal space, our metropolis must grow vertically, and we connect its various floors with elevators, stairs, and zip lines.

Of course, to expand the city we need various resources, the sources of which are located both on the tree and in its surroundings. Solium is a key resource used to repel threats and it is obtained from resin. In order to acquire other resources, we need to organize expeditions (which also allow us to learn more about the ancient civilization) or establish advanced outposts and mines.

Caring for citizens and making decisions

The city would be nothing without its citizens, whose needs we must properly take care of. They include heroes with their own personalities and ambitions. Since it is impossible to please everyone, the game often forces us to make morally ambiguous decisions. Every such choice should be carefully considered, as a mistake can cost us dearly, in extreme cases ending with the loss of control over the city.

Defending the city after dusk

When darkness falls, ominous fog reaches out for us, in which monsters hide. They are aiming to destroy the heart of the tree. For this reason, it is necessary to take care of protective measures in advance, setting up a light-powered weapon that uses the aforementioned Solium, which will protect the metropolis and its inhabitants.
