Gord

Gord is an indie game set in a dark fantasy world inspired by Slavic mythology and beliefs. The players must expand their settlement, take care of their people's physical and mental states, fend off monsters and complete various objectives. The game was developed by a Polish studio Covenant.dev with support from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Plot

The game is set in a fantasy world inhabited by gods, wild beasts and bloodthirsty monsters. Leading The Tribe of the Dawn, we must guide our people through the dangerous woods and create a settlement that will protect them from lurking threats, such as other clans, beasts and supernatural forces.

Mechanics

Gord consists of several scenarios in a procedurally generated world; we can adjust the terrain, their difficulty, enemy density and random event frequency. Players must build a base, first putting up basic buildings, gradually progressing to more advanced and more expensive ones. It is crucial for the survival of our people, as they're constantly exposed to hostile attacks. It's our responsibility to provide them with food and meet their other needs, as well as watch out for their physical and mental health. Exposing our people to negative factors may drive them insane, make them fall ill or die, which negatively affects all the others.

There are also plenty of special quests in the game. These usually require us to leave our settlement and venture deep into the woods to eliminate a plague source, hunt a legendary creature or discover one of the world's numerous secrets. Players can find many scattered pages of The Chronicle, a book holding information about Gord's world, its gods and creatures.

Gord is a 3D isometric game with a unique, atmospheric soundtrack.
