An arena survival game reminiscent of Vampire Survivors, being a cross between a roguelike, action RPG and a bullet hell shooter. Death Must Die has us playing as adventurers traversing the Afterlife, cutting down hundreds of enemies along the way.
Death Must Die is an arena survival game, combining elements of a roguelike, an action RPG and a bullet hell shooter. Visibly inspired by Vampire Survivors, the game was developed by an indie studio Realm Archive.
Death Must Die is set in a fantasy world. We play as heroes ascending The High Mount to reach Death's domain and put an end to its reign. Unlike the previous adventurers who've attempted this before them, we have an entire pantheon on our side.
The player must eventually face Death itself and cut it down. As we progress further, we learn why exactly the gods decided to turn against it, as well as the protagonists' backstories.
Death Must Die makes use of the top-down perspective. The player must traverse diverse, atmospheric locations, while fighting hundreds of enemies at once. Apart from regular enemies, whose strength lies in numbers, we'll also face powerful bosses guarding the way to the next circles of the Afterlife.
On the battlefield, we must keep moving, not let the enemies corner us and make good use of our characters' strengths. The protagonists vary in terms of their fighting style, preferred weaponry (both melee and ranged) and abilities.
As we progress, we develop the characters, unlock new ones and acquire better gear. The game lets us increase our chances of finding unique, powerful items - but, as a trade-off, the enemies will grow more powerful. Over time, we also unlock new divine blessings that make us stronger.
Death Must Die features simple, yet appealing pixel art visuals reminiscent of other arena survival games.
