Plot

Divinity Chronicles: Journey to the West is set in a fantasy Realm of Divinity. The playable character travels the land, trying to discover the truth regarding the darkness enveloping it. The story is inspired by Journey to the West, a famous Chinese novel by Wu Cheng'en, featuring a staggering 60 different endings, affected by our actions and decisions.

Mechanics

Divinity Chronicles: Journey to the West features five playable characters - Wukong (the Monkey King known from Journey to the West), The Holy Monk, White Dragon, The Swine King and Faithful Devil. Each character has their own backstory, unique fighting style and set of skills.

Players must traverse the game's vast world, complete main quests to progress the story, as well as various side missions. Throughout the game we can permanently recruit companions and temporarily recruit neutral NPCs. One must remember these characters are not immortal. Nevertheless, just like the protagonists, they have access to unique abilities that prove indispensable on the battlefield.

Speaking of battle - players will face many enemies in turn-based combat. During battle, we must play cards corresponding to specific moves and attacks, needing compose a team (and, therefore, a deck) effective in every situation. Apart from increasingly powerful cards, along the way we also gain relics, the skillful use of which can change the course of battle.
