A third entry in the humorous arcade game series with RPG features, this time created from scratch for PlayStation 4. The story of Fat Princess Adventures takes place in a world, known from previous games in the series, where kingdoms fighting for domination had to join their forces in the face of a new threat - the evil queen and her army of ravenous goblins.

Fat Princess Adventures is a simple cooperative arcade RPG, which employs the formula of hack-and-slash games, like Diablo. It has been developed by the American Fun Bits studio, which so far had only created Escape Plan for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4. Fat Princess Adventures is another part of the series, with the previous one being released in 2009 for PlayStation 3 and in 2010 for PlayStation Portable. Unlike those previous entries in the franchise, this new PS4 title gives up on team gameplay for a more traditional cRPG experience.

Plot

Fat Princess Adventures takes place in the same fantastic world as in previous games in the series. Kingdoms that once fought for domination are now united due to a new threat in the form of the evil queen and her army of ravenous Gobblings. Players take the role of a hero belonging to one of 4 classes: mage, archer, engineer, or warrior. Each has unique skills and fighting style.

Gameplay

The gameplay is presented in isometric view. The production looks similar to other typical hack-and-slash titles, only slightly simplified, meaning that the games are fast and our success depends both on our skills and used weapon. We can also exchange equipment and gain new skills and attacks. We battle the followers of the evil queen, sometimes supported by the eponymous princesses, controlled by the AI. They were defenseless in previous games, but now they can cast powerful spells.

The game has been developed with four players in mind, and we can play locally on single screen or through internet connection.

Technology

The visuals of Fat Princess Adventure for PS4 employ a fabulous and cartoonish style, just like the ones in its predecessors. Thanks to the power of PS4, developers were able to implement interesting graphical effects that fit in with the game’s looks.
